1994 / 1999
Larmag Services B.V.
Amsterdam
Job description:
Larmag, a privately owned internationally operating oil exploitation company, has signed a Joint-Venture with the Turkmen government concerning oil concessions in the Caspian. A fascinating job during which I met an awful lot of interesting people and which also allowed my English to develop quite well.
The job involves the daily processing off creditors, debtors and bank statements. In addition to this I assist in compiling to what is known as the year-end folder for the external accountants. Since I learned to work with computers extensively in a previous job, I have also been assigned the task of Computer System Manager and a "Helpdesk" function.
On behalf of the company I travelled to Turkmenistan in order to set up the accounting system and instruct the local colleagues in how to use it. In addition to this on February 1995 I was asked also to take care of the computer network. Through the years the accounting work grew less and the work regarding the computer system increased.
In the beginning of 1997 the company migrated from Novell 3.12 to Windows NT4.0. During this migration I was involved in co-ordinating this project. I was incharge with the every day maintenance of the Windows NT4 network, reporting to the Finance Manager who was responsible for the well functioning of the LAN. During this perode I created a small intranet for company publication purposes. The code used at the time was all HTML4
